8th Dutch Stem Cell Meeting
April 24 2015, UMCU, Utrecht
Keynote speaker
Jacob Hanna is faculty member at the Department of Molecular Genetics at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel. His interests are embryonic stem cell biology, early development and advancing human disease modeling. The main focus of his lab has been the process of cellular reprogramming, in which induced pluripotent stem cells are generated from somatic cells, and how pluripotency is maintained throughout development in mouse and human. He addresses these questions using a diverse arsenal of biological experimentation methods, such as high throughput screening, advanced microscopy and genomic analyses. In addition his lab combines biological experimentation with computational biology, theory and modeling, to elucidate the biological question at hand. Last year Hanna and colleagues described the derivation of novel human ground state naive pluripotent stem cells.
